HACK 4 WATER BRASIL – HACKATHON AND H2O ENGENHARIA

On March 15 and 16, 2018, the HACK 4 WATER BRASIL – HACKATHON event was held at Impact Hub São Paulo (SP). This event was sponsored by the Ministry of Cities of the Federal Government of Brazil; the German International Cooperation Agency (GIZ) and Impact Hub São Paulo itself.

In addition, the event also had strategic partners such as the Water Innovation Lab Brasil; the Lab Hacker; Open Knowledge Brasil and Hackthon Brasil. In general, HACK 4 WATER BRAZIL – HACKATHON had as main objective to provide support and space for technological innovations and business that could be applied in Brazilian cities, aiming to meet the 6th Objective of the Agenda 2030 for the Sustainable Development of the United Nations (UN).

The objective in question refers to the universalization of sanitation, and is presented as follows: “Ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all”. Within this context, HACK 4 WATER BRASIL – HACKATHON presented two main themes for the participants: the use of data provided by the National Information System on Sanitation (SNIS) and mechanisms to assist in the management of losses in water supply networks.

Both themes were addressed by focusing on the following question: “How can Technology, Data and Innovation impact the cause of water and sanitation?”. H2O Engenharia was present at this event, through the engineer Rodrigo de Oliveira Marques, who participated in the group Med’Água, formed by André Fernandes, Guima San, Lucas Rossi, Mayra Favaro and Natália Manzo. The group worked on the issue of loss management in the water distribution network, and presented a proposal for innovation to monitor losses, in a refined way, through the use of a mobile application. The proposal was presented at the end of the second day of the event, and was accepted by the examining board, and will then be incubated by Impact Hub São Paulo for acceleration and development in the coming months.

H2O Engenharia supports technological innovation in sanitation and believes in the potential of the proposal presented by the group Med’Água and made available its media for the dissemination of this and other events that promote innovation.
